A Point about Pavolv

Don applies a Pavlovian cultural hierarchy:

     >And Pudovkin, in turn, was a big influence on Alfred Hithcock.

Who, had *his* submaxillary gland, like poor Dog Vanya's, been incised
and sutured in place, with the saliva collecting in a funnel, could
have filled the Grand Canyon with drool upon the sight of a comely
blond, with her heels clicking tick, tick, tick like a metronome,
     walking into the room...

By the by, this makes me wonder about TRP's rather discomforting (for
me, anyway) descriptions of the poor dogs in these sections. Is this
an accurate portrayal of the Pavlovian experimentations? Did it get
any worse? (Not really sure if I want to know, but...)

     Chris
