There has been talk about _Lot 49_/Tristan, oceanic, Thomas Stearns E., 
so it may be worth noting that the line 42 in _The Waste Land_, in between
all those Tarot allusions, cites Dick Wagner's take on Tristan and Isolde:

Oed' und leer das Meer.

(Desolate and empty the sea.) Now this "Oed'" oceanic does not feel 
sublimely religious or a wonderful motherly original state. But then, it
does not have follow that it refers to Lacan's feminine as lack; maybe
rather something like Irigaray's speculum, where a woman watches herself
with this gynecologic device and does not see exactly "something", but
neither any male Freudians' "nothing" as an absolute castrated lack. Right?
