Doug's OCEANIC ducks remind me of that other VAST aggregate of wildlife
who got loose in the New York sewers. Someday somebody'll write a
book about them.

Sa-a-ay! I remember reading once (at least I think I remember. I might
be making this up) that a whole boatload of plastic rubber duckies from
Hong Kong went down somewhere in the Pacific. That was the bad news. No
rubber duckies for America's kids.
The good news was, that being plastic and all, the rubber duckies
floated. They also maintained a sort of cohesiveness, so that there was
this organism (?) of rubber duckies afloat in the ocean.
They stayed together in this loose confederation in spite of
storm and tide. Which meant that they were extremely accurate trackers
of ocean currents. Not to mention providing some real cool oceanic art.
It is plastic, you see.
