good point...I think that _GR_ is at pains to show how everything is
connected to everything else, so (as in real life) sex is never purely sex,
or love simply love, but everything represents something else. There's lots
of narrator's comments in the book about longing for some kind of purely
personal, wholesome private love, something that's not magical, exploitative
or whatever. rarely seen, though.
