Breaking the waves

Now that a few movies have been mentioned, I'll go ahead and try to
start a discusion about Lars Von Trier's "Breaking the Waves" which just 
started a couple of weeks ago here in Madrid.  I am not sure I can make 
a significant connection to Pynchon, but it addresses a question that we 
discussed here a few days ago: the relation between this world and the 
spiritual world.  The way it is filmed and edited is also very 
interesting, and unconventional.  His previous movie, "Europa", was 
mentioned as Pynchonesque a few years ago on this list (although this 
doesn't mean much.)
