Well, my stumbling upon Yoyodyne has proved sort
of interesting. On to the next target.
Richard Branson's Virgin corp used to be based around his music
label, Virgin Records, before he expanded into everything that
exists.
He sold his record label a while back for many millions.
Now he has decided he misses the music industry. His new music
company is to be called V-2.
I was on an areoplane once with Branson, just by fluke.
He was flying his own airline from New York to London.
Just before we were going to land, the IRA bombed the
airport, nearish to the runway. We were diverted from
Heathrow to Gatwick. We didn't know why the diversion
had happened until we were firmly on the ground. In
the interm, Branson went through the aisles, keeping
everyone in good spirits. I talked to him for a few
minutes, told him I enjoyed flying his airline, having
flown every few weeks for 2 years.(Thank god that's
over!) He was so pleased he gave me a bear-hug. I
mean, a big bear hug!
Is this interesting? Maybe not.
Thinking about Capitalism, conference sponsorship, and
violent rope metaphores,
