Jean, how did they like Kathy Acker?

It's funny, at least 50% of European Pynchon readers of my acquaintance
are women. (Yet none of them is a p-list member to my knowledge, hmmmm. (Or 
are you?) And I have told them about us. (Or maybe they don't like *me*?))


A sidestep from gender issues: in Finland only American black humorists
(and realists) are accepted by the literary establishment. When it comes
to experimental, arty, "difficult" post-WW2 texts, they are accepted
when they are European, esp. when they are French. (Simon, Sarraute,
Duras, Tournier, Le Clezio etc.)

Most unthinkable to the Finnish lit. establishment would be texts that bring 
together low humor and demandingness. But luckily such texts do not exist.
