My take, such as it is, is that the provisional pyramids are of sandbags
surrounding the entrance to ACHTUNG, where Slothrop is working before
he gets shipped off to Pointsman. I think Pynchon is making ironic comparison
with those Egyptian pyramids, which were to be the tombs for the living
gods that the Pharohs passed as.
