Well, I prefer to imagine it as an (un?)"holy circle" with four people
seated at 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees. This image will recur throughout
the novel: Slothrop's "ROCKETMAN WAS HERE" grafitto from p. 624, which
brings with it the realization that, "what he was really drawing was the
A4 rocket, seen from below," the mandala-like design of the Herero
villages, and many other instances noted by readers more perceptive than
myself in standard GR litcrit works.
