Just wanted to point out that getting through Gravity's Rainbow and
appreciating it are not really incompatible with wanting to understand
it better (may be even a prerequisite). In fact, I'd wager that most
people (academic or not) on this list fell in love with it on the first
read and kept coming up with new stuff on every re-read. But it's also
true that everyone has their own idea of what is clear and/or
accessible, so debating it here is probably futile (not that I want to
discourage anyone from doing so).
