You know, it's a question I've often wondered about, late at night, down in
the dark depths of my soul.
But Tom W. was awfully young in 1971--you can see the pictures. Younger
than Little Tommy P. And Mr. W. just doesn't seem to have the depth of
erudition (though he's read more than he'll admit to, and I have a sneaking
suspicion that he might, at one time, have darkened the door of an
institution of higher learning) of the Magnificent TRP.
I view them as a sort of age-differentialled Kerouac and Cassady, at least
when I put them in that '69 Continental and throw "Medley: Jack and Neal /
Going to California" onto the tape deck.
