what's wrong with being pc?

Given our man's strictures about binary thought processes, it seems a little
ironic that the p-list should have fallen for the old pc/non-pc opposition,
when "pc" itself must surely have been invented by some Murdoch hack to get
progressive types (people who share more than a passing commitment to social
justice) arguing amongst themselves, or if not arguing, spraying each other
with anecdotes.

Or maybe the "pc" argument is germane to this list perhaps it really does
define some seismic fault line in Pynchon's readership: old sixties radicals
turned rightwing libertarians versus nineties progressives who think that
social justice is best served through institutionalized reform?

Certainly the tone of the list post-Siegel has made me think twice before
assuming any degree of political consensus in this interpretive community.
