Folks,

For the time being, when looking at he IPW conference announcement,
please erase the "CES and IUSS" from your minds. Warwick Gould
seems to have a variety of difficulties which I must attempt
to resolve satisfactory before we can put the organizational name
to what PIPS is planning in London. I hope to have this sorted out
when I am back in London in two weeks time (Did i mention that
I am in New York again?) I do not imagine that this poses any
threat to the London end of the conference, but will merely be
a intra-structural organisational matter for the University Of London.
The founder of the Centre For English Studies, Prof Warren Chernaik, is
retireing, and Prof Warwick Gould, who is replacing him, wishes to do
things a bit differently.

For people who are memebers, or board members of PIPS, a full account
of the present state-of-play will appear in our first e-newletter, which
our acting secratary, James Duckworth, is presently preparing for
distribution. on 9 June. I hope PIPS board members will then have a
chance
to register their feelings about a) how far we have come and b)
how far we have to go to put on IPW, and to contribute ideas.

My strong feeling again, is that we will sort out the conference
organisation
structure within the U of L labryinth, and move forward from thee to
deal with
more important issues. Suffice to say here that, if there have been a
few
disappointments, there have also been reasons to be cheerful.
(1,2,3....!)

EAW
Co-D, PIPS
