about Merian Cooper's "You will have the tallest, darkest leading man in
Hollywood" and Richard M. Nixon's "What?". Dorothy to Toto is, shall we say,
a matter of public record. But what about the other epigrammatic quotes? Any
ideas, sources?"

Well, Andrew cited the VB, and Cooper's line is straight from KING KONG itself,
but "What?" is interesting.  I've often quoted that line myself, and have
heard many others use it in what has to be--often anachronistically--a cross
reference to GR.  Has anyone gone through the Nixon tapes at the National
Archives to provide an exact citation?
