I reckon about half - eventually. The Recognitions and GR both took about a
year, but have been subject to much dipping in since; The Golden Bowl I
read in one 13-hour session, Remembrance of things past over three years.
Some books, like Tristram Shandy I've dipped in for twenty years, but never
actually read through. The percentage that left a residue, that were even a
kind of epiphany is of course a different story. - Brian Collins
