Speaking of Barnes & Noble, I thought I reserved a copy of _Mason & Dixon_
there last week, only to receive a touching little postcard three days later,
reading:

"DEAR CUSTOMER, 

WE'RE SORRY; THE PUBLISHER HAS INFORMED US THAT THE BOOK YOU ORDERED IS
UNAVAILABLE AT THIS TIME, THE PUBLISHER ESTIMATES THAT IT WILL BE AVAILABLE
__9/97__.  PLEASE REORDER AT THAT TIME.

WE HOPE YOU WILL GIVE US THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE YOU IN THE FUTURE."
