     You rascal, Monte!  There I was plotting our joint International 
     Pynchon Week Paper:  re-reading the Inferno, marking passages, 
     pulling refs, testing ideas...only to have you dump me!  You didn't 
     call!  You didn't write!  A-and now, you tease, you tempter, *now*, 
     you say that I've got to organize these lazy New Yorkers before 
     you'll come clean!  Well, hmpf, OK, but it'd better be worth it -- 
     and I've got my doubts, Ser Brunetto.
