My solution for the canoe joke:
Throughout, replace the word "cannibal" with the phrase "New Yorker"--and
vice versa.

If I unsubscribe from this list, it won't be because someone who has read
farther into Mason & Dixon than I wants to talk about it.  "Rosebud," it
turns out, is the name of the sled Charles Foster Kane had as a child.
Ooops.  Another artistic endeavor ruined.
