I've gotta admit that I was a little discomfitted by the way the Booksmith
people give collateral hype to the Wanda Tinasky book while plugging Thomas
Pynchon's.  I suppose the WT book is "about" P, but given the pleas of Holt
on behalf of P and Melanie Jackson (who denied that P wrote those letters)
for critics and booksellers to step in line, I'd think the Tinasky plug,
minor as it is, would be another big no-no.  Booksmith is, I guess, a very
daring (and intractable) marketer indeed.
