slavic/semitic/turkic language?  And/or does it relate to Glubb Pasha
or the producer Golub?"


There might be a relation that I'm unaware of, but the name I believe 
derives from the Yiddish  word "shlub."  I'm not sure of exact spelling
or meaning, but I believe it translates generally as an incompetent
do-nothing or something along those lines.
