     Yikes, Vikings are hip - I was returning from vacation with my sweetie 
     last week, and there in the NY times, among a spread of the usual 
     horrific car-wrecks that pass for fashion models these days was a tall 
     statuesque beauty wearing a Betsy Johnson design consisting of a 
     metallic hip-slung skirt, a metal bra thing, a shield and a GIANT 
     viking helmet.
     
     Which my boyfriend, who is intensely Swedish-American, was quite 
     literally drooling over.  Men are such animals.  :->
     
     Scandinavian is where it's at, my dear foax.  Oh, to be a little 
     svenska flika.

*  A new Gamera flick is currently playing at NYC's Film Forum.
     
*  Tomoyuki Tanaka, former head of Toho films and co-creator (with I. 
Honda) of Godzilla, died recently in Tokyo.
     
*  Joe Boxer recently hosted an elaborate fashion junket to Iceland, where 
Members of the Press got to eyeball models parading down a runway wearing 
little else besides novelty undergarments and Viking-style helmets (you 
know, the ones with the horns).  Pix may be available at the Joe Boxer 
website; I haven't checked and I don't have the URL on me.
