Read it this winter, didn't expect much of it, liked it,  and posted the one direct
referance to M&D in the book.  Check the archives: I don't have it with me now.
Jimmy is right: it's a sketch more than a study, but it won't take up much time
and will get you a feel for the state of science and technology at the time, 
as well as the politics and people behind them.  I suspect these will be useful when
M&D comes out.
