Jeez, I find the list has become impossibly dull lately and whenever it
gets this boring I find I must post something offhand just for a healthy
*Diversion* from the sleepy doldrums. What happened? Did everybody
unsubscribe? I'm sorry I ever suggested it.
You'd think with the new book coming out there'd be a little more
excitement, yet so far, nothing. No body's even sent in an for M&D stuff.
I thought this list would get cramped with rude people elbowing in, but
nothing's happening.
All I can think of is poor lonely Tom sitting at an empty foldup table in
an empty bookstore twiddling his thumbs, turning his pen over and upside
down on an uncracked copy of the new book, looking blankly at the walls,
meanwhile right next door Spinal Tap is selling the Black Album like
hotcakes.
I'm afraid it's all over folks unless we buckle down, shape up this boring
list and get down to some serious discussion. We've been slacking off and
now just about any eleven year old boy could come on and steal the show, at
a crest of high publicity.
***V. SPOILER WARNING***
So what I'm wondering is, in V., about Tristan and Iseult, the love
triangle, love and death. When did *you* first get wind of the point that
"the act of love and the act of death are one and the same thing."? I sort
of had it figured out from early on I was very suspicious that was where we
were chasing after in V. For me, that's the whole book. But I suppose I
may have had some kind of foreshadowing in my own personal experience, as
well as some thread picked up in the unconciously early in the book. So,
in other people's minds, what were those clues? I love the clock/eye
image. Very powerful.
I look forward to hearing other people's ideas.
Chris
