The Time is Now

What strange sect is this we have all pledged, to one degree or another,
our allegiance?

Our guiding spirit has been absent for years. In the interim many have
grown disillusioned or confused. Some have become mesmerized, like the
Scurvhamites, by the gaudy reptition of endless silence, and been lost
forever. Those remaining loyal have often grown factious; power struggles
have ensued.

The works of the past have been read and reread, interpreted, cited,
invoked, reified, chanted, quoted, and even occassionally enjoyed.

Rumours from the east have come telling us that soon the spirit may speak
again, after all this time. But there have been rumours before...

The very phenomenon of this list: cause, effect or correlative of the
times, somehow signifies that this incarnation will be different, more
immediate, electric.

The current controversies, boistrous and rude, will soon sink to the level
of background radiation, as our group attention turns inelluctably
(pynchonotropically?) toward the coming light, and we begin our spontaneous
group read of M&D.
