New York Press (4/30-5/8, 1997) has a good'un by Jim Knipfel--who hadn't
even finished the book!
Village Voice (5/6/97) has a triple header: a review by Laura Miller, a
piece on Wanda Tinasky by Rick Moody (yup!), and a look at Pynchon on the
Net by Thomas Goetz, who writes, in part, "Yet for the true devotee, the
Pynchon e-mail list is a must. Part gossip about the author, part rumor
feeding on *Mason & Dixon* ('The obvious conclusion to draw with regard to
*Mason & Dixon* is that it should centre on the Internet as the next
logical progression [and/or regression] in the chain of communication
media...'), part underused master's degrees on display, pynchon-l at waste.org
scrutinizes 'Tom,' as he's roundly referred to, so microscopically it's
little wonder he's afraid to show his face in public."
Fair use, but no attribution. Andrew, right?
