The official publication date is May 30. I don't know when Dale plans to
have it in book stores. It takes a while for those orders to come in and the
promotion has just barely started. I'd imagine it would be late June at the
earliest. He has been selling his other books through his website and it
will be available there as soon as it comes from the printer. He will
anonounce it to the list when this happens.
Meanwhile, we do have advance galleys for anyone who would like to review
the book, for better or worse. I think it stands on its own merits and will
charm all but the most rabid Lineland/Siegel-hater. Contact Barbara Wray
<bwray at iam.com> about review copies. Tell her who you are, for whom you plan
to review the book and where to send it. These copies are very expensive to
make, so we'll appreciate requests from valid review sources only.
I am also making 50 numbered and signed copies of a special edition with a
full-color cover that I printed at 720 dpi on my Epson Ink Jet. The body is
being printed on archival paper on an excellent copier and is almost
indistinguishable from offset. They are spiral bound in stiff plastic
laminated covers (this is necessary to keep the ink jet print from fading)
and bear the words Advance Copy on the covers and the inside title page.
About ten of these are already spoken for. The others will be sold by
subscription only at $100 each, including shipping. Please e-mail me
privately if you are interested.
I will expect the usual flames on opportunistic money-grubbing and the usual
commercial insults. Thomas Pynchon, of course, gives his books away free to
anyone who asks, just like Abby Hoffman (may he rest in well-deserved peace).
>I'll gladly give it a chance to stand up on its own merit, regardless of
any supposed or alleged connection to Pynchon. But then again, I'm also a
Mark Leyner fan.
Who is Mark Leyner?
Thanks for the good thoughts. I'm sure you'll love "Lineland." I'm really
proud of what I did.
