When Slothrop initially loses his identity, his paranoia and 
black/rocket obsession(s) blooms. As he loses his obsession(s), his 
paranoia wanes, and you could say he finds himself (and his 
harmonica) as he (his ego) "fades." 

Slothrop becomes a legend/god. 
Where is Slothrop? Slothrop is everywhere.
