Writing about writing can be sophomoric. What I admire in Barth and 
others is that they create works that are about writing without 
writing about writing. 

Has the list ever ripped into Altman's "The Player"? 
I'll venture a valued extremity and put in my two cents: I think it's 
great. Sure it's slick, self-congratulatory, and perhaps not as 
smart as it as it wants to be, but I like it, yes I do. Altman rocks.
