Genesis Chapter 9
[13] I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant
between me and the earth.
[14] And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the
bow shall be seen in the cloud:
According to my New English Bible, the rainbow was seen as a weapon
of the gods, as a huge weapon used by the supernatural deities which
ruled them. In all instances I have seen, there is no tension between
the bow (after the rain) and any ground force(s) or grounded gods/
goddesses. It is similar in a way to lightning and thunder being the
weapons of Thor/Zeus.
