GRGR7: Almost keeping up

In this episode we get a snippet of Katje's spying
activities for Allied intelligence. A question occurred
to me to which someone out there might have an answer:

In the "real" war, was this the way information on the
location of rocket launch sites for the purpose of British
take out strikes mainly obtained? Or was German code
breaking relied on to any extent? Pynch probably could not
have included any such material. The role of cryptanalysis
in the European war was kept secret for years. The solution to
Enigma for example had not yet been made public at the time
GR went to press. (It was very shortly after.)

Just a thought.
