A namesake of mine innocently asks:

     >Is there a Pynchon Newsgroup?

Ooo, don't go there, Chris. :-) There is not currently a Pynchon
newsgroup, but it was the subject of one of our recent barroom brawls.
      (Eh, Jester?)

I am reading Don Quixote, Raymond Chandler, Peter Ackroyd's biography
of William Blake, GR (natch) and an article on page 3 of yesterday's
NYT in which my beloved brother, who claims not to be a Clinton
administration shill, is quoted on the subject of human rights.
(Shameless Karatnytsky family plug of the day.)

The cd player has been rotating the new Jimmy Scott, Louis Armstrong:
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, and The Essential Johnny
     Cash.

I have recently seen a charming stage version of A Child's Christmas
in Wales, an unbelievably powerful version of The Wasteland, adapted
for stage and starring Fiona Shaw, and David Hare's new play,
     Skylight, with Michael Gambon.

     How's that?

     Chris
