Its great to see so much Gaddis being read, I just finished 'A Frolic of
his own' the second time.
And Michel Tournier - Le Roi was published in England as the Erl - King and
in the States as The Ogre (discuss . . .) and is a really great book. The
'king' character also appears briefly in Tournier's earlier Gemini (Les
meteores) 'an exceptional, incomparable novel' - Jean Genet. These two
novels together make up a French encyclopaedic text on the order of
Recognitions.
Apart from that, Timothy Mo, Brownout on Breadfruit Boulevard; George
Chauncy, Gay New York; Maureen McHugh, Half the Day is Night.
Listening . . .Miles, Terry Riley, Cecil Taylor, Ives, Takemitsu . . .
