Leave it to the Hungarians, but in the 20's or 30's, there was a popular
song over there called GLOOMY MONDAY that had them defenestrating they-
selves, jumpung off bridges, doing the Anna Karenina bit, usw.

(I am not making this up... learned of this when I was a grad stoont in 
Ethnomusicology in the '70s).
