That also seems likely from internal evidence of the novels.  V. is quite
puritanical about drugs in general.  COL49 still tends to be negative on the whole--
just look at Mucho and Hilarius.  But GR is at least ambivalent--eg., stuff
that's been processed--a la coal-tar derivatives--is "bad" but pot, etc. is
fine.  VINELAND seems more open to the altered mind experience on the whole.
