Ok, Sean, Paul.  What I was responding to was the assertion that "WRITING 
it is not the same as SAYING it, . . ." 

What I meant to do was done badly, I admit--and apologize.  I merely 
meant to suggest that whereas Pynchon's use of the word "cunt" is 
stylistic, and therefore somewhat unoffensive, the "words are action" 
bit still holds.  I was merely concerned, while reading Paul's post, that 
that nasty "words are harmless" belief system was asserting itself in 
some unconsciencious way.  Maybe I *am* paranoid.  Anyhow, apologies to 
all--just a bit too sensitive, silly me.
