Someone asked me who the Freddie NZ was that I had recommended as a perfect
mate for Emily Dickinson. Well, that would be NietZsche--who died the year
Stencil was conceived. Though one supposes that--although it would require
the subtle services of some Carroll Eventyr-like channeller--the Nazi
Martin Heiddigger would have done Emily just as well--if Hannah Arendt's
private diaries are any clue, and I think they are.
