Hopefully, the original poster asking for sad songs has cheered up, but
I can't let this one pass.  Should have thought of it instantly:

	Ravi Shankar playing "Marwa" (originally on RAVI SHANKAR IN NEW YORK
	--1967; rereleased on the 4-CD compilation RAVI SHANKAR: IN CELEBRATION.

Here's the note on the raga:
	"An evening raga which conveys feelings of renunciation, loneliness,
	and desolation. . . . . In my playing, I attempted to portray the
	accompanying descent into bitterness which often occurs when confronted
	with these painful emotions.

Warning: This *is* very powerful and bitter medicine!
