Absolutely. On the subject of McGuffins, I've often suspected that 
the quest for the 00000 rocket in _GR_ is something of a quest for a 
McGuffin, because the novel is _really_ about the events in that 
scrap of newspaper. The rocket is merely a means towards an end: in 
the novel as much as in Their plans to bring everything to Absolute 
Zero...
