Lots of comments on Welles and CK, lots of criticism regarding the PLOT . . .

CK is not highly regarded in film history because of the story. Yeah, it's
heavy-handed, melodramatic, blah, blah, blah. So were MOST movies made at that
time. The genius of CK has to do with the things John M doesn't want to go into
- particularly the editing. CK was the first movie EVER to use sound to tie
together scenes - the sound from scene 1 overflows for a few seconds into scene
2 providing a smoothly flowing pace.

Obscure fun fact: The blue screening technique that is used in the scene with
the cockatoo had one drawback - the cockatoo's eye was also blue, so if you look
carefully, you can see the background THROUGH the eye of the bird.

Jean.
