"The English Patient"

Hi all,

I'm rather unable to understand all the flap about this
book, but I did get a few nice GR buzzes from the landscape,
even though much of it was in Italy rather than in the
more Slothrop-traveled areas of the Zone. My favorite:
Kirpal Singh, in his efforts to assimilate, asks Lord
Suffolk and crew to take him to a pantomime in London.
Even though the show was "Peter Pan" rather than Roger
and Jessica's "Hansel and Gretel," it wasn't hard to
imagine the fictional characters' paths crossing in
space, if not exactly in time.

Penny
