Community vs Relevance

Haven't read "It Takes a Village" but I like the title. Sure the list 
is generally for Pynchon-related discussion. But the appreciation of 
Pynchon suggests to me some common sensibility, and with it, a 
virtual community of sorts, complete with voyeur/lurkers. The 
encyclopedic nature of GR in particular makes many topics relevant.

Hope this isn't too mushy/geeky, but there are a couple of people on 
the list that I consider friends. A-and even "members" with whom I 
have had "words" are members of a community whose diverse experience 
and opinions I value.

It's a beautiful day in DC/Rockville, and I am looking forward 
to seeing as many of you as can make it to the DC Gathering.
