>I am glad Steeloid closes his latest screed w/ a quote from H. Adams about lies and little
boys. They got you good, Steely, so good that it seems you are still just a poor little boy. I
am really tired of your narrow-mindedness coupled w/ your long windedness. Not that I
mind being insulted, but you rarely support your insults except w/ stupid slapdash
pseudo-rationales. I usually resist being drawn into any discussion you are a centrally
involved in, but this just takes the cake:

So, I'm supposed to say, like, wow, steely, you sure showed me? I still say the film's
overrated, but more to the point, the whole Welles exchange was characterized by fun,
play, a little wit, a few good puns. I learned some stuff from goodman Don L. and had a
good feeling about the list, a feeling I usually have until you drop one of your methane
stink bombs in amidships. You, Steelman, are a shit, ok? You are what we used to call in
college an *instant bummer.* You have NONONO sense of humanity (much less of
humor), or of the relativitiy of good people's thoughts. Though I agree w/ much of your
attacks on mainstream, McKinnonian feminism--though not w/ your personal attacks on
DYB whom I know to be a person of integrity and good will--I think it's about time
someone pointed out to you, fella, that fucking JOURNALISTS are much more
responsible for keeping the Man in charge than are academics or feminists. You guys are
the real running dogs of lackey imperialism. OH,OH,I forgot, your personal politics and
mode of life are, I am sure, utterly pure, yet you are tarred with the same brush you wield
so stridently in your wholesale denigrations of all those professions you deem unworthy.
A-and stop dropping names alla time about your *good friend* Alex Cockburn etc.
I noticed you never even acknowleged that Penny Padgett awhile back had responded to
your churlish challenge to quote some good VINELAND passages; she dropped a coupla
real winners, but no acknowledgement from you. This is a typical Steeldroid ploy. Most
folks on the list believe in some mode of civility, some give and take betwixt us. Only
boreasses like you, smugly convinced they have all the answers, seem unable to
acknowledge that learning is a lifelong task and that all of us can learn somethings from
each other. Sorry that schoolteacher fucked up your little boyhead so badly, Steely. Good
thing there's still people who will publish you, two-fisted writer that you are, putting your
bread on the table and your foot in your mouth. I am glad that my moronic post got you
to cut down on your p-list reading. Now if only I could figure out what to write that
might make you so disgusted that you'll just kinda--go away--for good, and leave us
morons to the infinitely more rewarding task of teaching things to each other rather than
bullying and browbeating.
But I want to repeat: Journalists have bloodier hands than either academics or feminists.
Write that twenty times on the board, little man, before you go to recess.
