man, i haven't seen this much self-pity since the Republican National
Convention.
and irony . . . . well, i can't help but notice how many retreat into their
specialized void--carrying, of course, their dog-eared copy of The Rocket.
the book makes you feel guilty--which is the best it, or any book, can do.
it makes you viddy your complicity in everything wrong. though it, too, is
part of what is wrong.
Question for academics, feminists, saints, oedipals (like me), electras,
shit-eaters, and journalists who have witnessed the core of murder: would
you rather give up pynchon and his books, and others like them, see ya,
goodbye . . . or give up the big, bad World--and the need for oppostion to it
that made these books possible?
the book is supposed to disappear; y'all merely stage its disappearance.
This is not meant to be a custody squabble among pillars of salt.
you're all beginning to make me very paranoid. especially that dyb0001, who
seems to be after me in some way . . . .
