What are we going to do with that extra second? Colonize it?

1955 (date in V.) saw the invention of the atomic clock. That is, using
the
electromagnet radiation emanated by cesium atoms to measure time.
By 1972 (date in GR) astronomically determined Greenwich Mean Time is
replaced by atomic-based Co-ordinated Universal Time.
Today at 12:00 midnight, those IERS people in Paris will give us an
extra
second.
Apparently fluctuations in the earth's rotation (those forces of winds,
tides, the gravitational force of the sun and moon, changes in the
structure
of the earth's core, etc.) have changed that nature~science
synchronicity.
And we all know that if science can't explain something with a
mathimatical
formula . . . well, 'it' just ain't so. So as man tries to calibrate
its
intellect to celestial forces (M & D), I for one will be on the look out
for
Pynchon sightings . . . What better timing?
