Misapprehensions

Then there's the classic transmutation of "There's a bad moon on the 
rise" into "There's a bathroom on the right." And there wasn't much 
resemblance between the "real" words of "Louie, Louie" and the version I 
saw circulated in junior high.

Where did this thread come from, anyway? Inclined to leap to the defense 
of small town librarians or anyone else with too much time on their hands,
