Fact Checking

	I happen to be a certified expert on talking canines and it pains
	me to see Pynchon (who I'd formerly considered a guru, nay even a
	God) behaving in a human manner by describing a terrier as
	possessing the power of speech when everyone knows that only
	Collies and Sheepdogs possess this gift (cf. "Lassie" and "the
	Shaggy Dog"). I read Pynchon to glean cold hard facts, not for 
	ridiculous, imaginative forays into fantasy and humor. I must
        admit it's making me meshugginah....
