..er
whilst in SF town this past week, did I notice the big litter boxes at SF
Int'l WASTE
did I notice the preponderance of 49s on highways, helmets, and beer
bottles
did I notice the name Inverarity in _Portrait of the Artist before
falling asleep
did I notice how despite its beauty and outrageousness, how sad that
little town is
a place you hang around for a bit before dying somewhere else
did I notice the acid casualties, the spent dream, no Oedipa's warm arms
temporary
did I notice City lights and how Bauldelaire's in the alley, not
Shakespeare: old, muttering, even the sex a sterile orange
where the blues are played by whites, where the queers debate their
absorption by political floats and cold clammy handshakes on Market
during gay pride
did I notice the St Helena wind that blows and blows, sweaters in
summertime
did I notice the clean smell like freshly wiped jism
what did I notice--I missed NY I guess

no damn ALA M&D poster either, Holt rather flaunt Frost...
glad to be M&D swimmin once more...
