Speaking of parasitical behavior...which defines the heart of a certain
journalistic approach, which I wouldn't characterize as werewolf so much as
vampire/agent provocateur. An extreme, yet fruitful, comparison to the way
Jules now says he's used the p-list community would be to imagine a
reporter who sets the house on fire so he can get pictures of the burning
building and snatch interviews with the residents as they flee. (A
journalist can only do that by dehumanizing his subjects, just as it was
difficult to get American boys to kill in Vietnam until they had been
brainwashed to consider their opponents as not-human.) Jules may in fact be
inventing a new genre, perhaps not the one he crowed about: the
docu-drama of Internet shovelware tabloid journalism.
