You defend the reading well, but if Pynchon is purposefully
occluding a potential reading then doesn't it come into play?
(Any psychanalytic criticism would certanly follow this lead.)
Are the workings perfect if there is an attempt to block or cut
short the multiple resonances? ( I could start down the spiked
path of margin/center but I've seen where decon/pomo goes in
these parts and that is a Boundary I ain't a passing.)
Can there be an empty passion, mercy without a mission?  Is
there any other kind?
