May I just point out that this exhortation, admirable though it be, is
not actually possible to fulfill (at tleast the "vote no" part)?
A glance in at news.admin.newgroups, reveals no CFV or RFD for
rec.music.white-power or variant thereof. A DejaNews search on
"white-power" shows one post on the topic in the last month, querying a
recent spate of emails exhorting a "no" vote. That was quickly debunked
as a dead letter. A vote _was_ held on the establishment of
rec.music.white-power about this time last year and it was defeated on
the order to 30,000 to <1000.
One fun thing to do if you're bored on a Saturday night: stick your nose
in at _alt_.music.white-power for a real soul-stirring, life-affirming,
lift-thine-eyes-unto-the-hills glimpse of high-minded rhetoric and
rational discourse. Pheeeeyooo! And the hell of it is, the antis are
nearly worse than the pros.
It pains me deeply to say it 'cos I love it nearly as much as life
itself, but the Usenet Notion is deader than vaudeville.
On the "Pynchon's work" front, who among us arose this lovely Bastille
Day morning, did our twenty pushups, gave the rising sun the glad eye,
and over morning coffee burst into song:
A lawn savant who'll lop a tree-uh,
Nobody beats the, Marquis de Sod!
What? Nobody?
